Take the Next Breath, Not the Whole Future

When grief is fresh, the future can feel impossible. Holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, empty bedrooms, and ordinary mornings can feel unbearable. Trying to imagine the rest of your life without your child may be too much. So do not try to survive the rest of your life today.
Survive this breath.
Survive this hour.
Drink water.
Eat something small.
Rest when you can.
Let someone sit with you.
Let someone make the phone call.
Let someone help with the practical things.
God does not ask you to carry tomorrow before you have survived today.
